In a large glass measuring cup, add the 1 cup milk and 1/4 cup water. Warm in the microwave for 30 seconds. The mixture must be lukewarm and not hot.
Add the 2 tbsp sugar and 2 1/4 tsp yeast. Whisk until combined. Allow to sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Well you wait for the yeast to proof, in a large bowl mix together the remaining ingredients: 5 tbsp butter, 1 egg, 1 1/2 tsp salt, and 3 1/2 to 4 cups bread flour
Pour the yeast mixture on top, mix with a dough whisk until it comes together as a dough. Knead with your hands until its no longer sticky.
Place a kitchen towel on top of the bowl and allow the dough to rise for 1-2 hours.
Garlic Spread
In a small mixing bowl combine all the ingredients for the garlic spread. 1/2 cup softened unsalted butter, 1 tsp rosemary, 1 tsp parsley, 2 tsp minced garlic, 1/4 tsp fine sea salt, and 1 cup parmesan cheese. Mixed until combined.
Assemble
Punch down the risen dough and break it into 12 even pieces. Roll out each piece and spread on the garlic spread. Once covered in garlic spread, fold in half and place in the greased bread pan. Repeat until all 12 pieces are added to the bread pan.
Place the towel on top and allow the bread to rise again for 1-2 hours.
When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Place the bread in the oven for 35 minutes.
When done, place stick a thermometer in the center. It should read 190 degrees. If not, bake a few minutes longer and check again.
Remove the bread when done, allow to cool before slicing.
