Dehydrated apples, a snack so enchanting, it’s got everyone talking…. and munching! Let’s dive into this chewy, sweet, and irresistibly healthy snack that’s taking over pantries everywhere. This is another one of my highly recommended snacks.
Picture this: a snack that’s not only lip-smackingly delicious but also incredibly healthy. That’s right, our star of the show, dehydrated apples, are all that and more. These thinly sliced pieces of joy are not just a way to preserve your apple harvest; they’re a ticket to snack heaven. Full of fiber and nutrients…and a bit of sugar I suppose.
Are These Apples Healthy?
Yes! They are a low calorie and high fiber snack.
How Do You Store Dried Apples?
You should keep dehydrated apples in a zip lock or tightly sealed bag/container. You do not want them going stale or soaking up other flavors from your pantry. If properly stored at a cool room temperature, they will last for 6-9 months.
Why Everyone Loves These Dehydrated Apples
- Health in a Bite: With a meager 130 calories per serving and a generous dose of fiber, these apple snacks are guilt-free and nutritious. They’re the superheroes of the snack world!
- Long-Lasting Delight: Can you believe these yummy treats stay fresh for up to 9 months in your pantry? That’s right, they’re the gift that keeps on giving.
- Versatility at Its Best: Whether it’s a quick snack, a topping for your morning oatmeal, or a sweet addition to your trail mix, dehydrated apples fit the bill perfectly.
The Secret to Making Dehydrated Apples
Making dehydrated apples is like crafting a piece of art. It starts with 20 small, perfectly ripe apples, a bath in a lemon juice and water mixture to retain their beautiful color, and then a long, slow dance in the dehydrator while sprinkled with cinnamon & sugar. The result? Thin, chewy slices of apple goodness that are just impossible to resist.
A Snack for All Seasons
Whether it’s the middle of summer or the depths of winter, dehydrated apples are always in season. They’re the perfect snack for a hike, a cozy movie night, or just a mid-afternoon munch. Plus, with their impressive shelf life, they’re always there when you need a sweet, healthy pick-me-up.
3 Tips for Making Perfect Dehydrated Apples
- The Thinner, the Better: Thinly sliced apples dehydrate more evenly and provide that perfect chewiness we all love.
- Lemon Bath: Don’t skip the lemon juice and water mix. It’s the secret to keeping your apples from turning brown.
- Patience Pays Off: Dehydrate at 135 degrees for 10 hours to achieve that ideal texture.
Equipment Essentials
- An apple corer peeler for perfect slices.
- A good quality dehydrator for the perfect drying process.
