I don’t know about you, but I LOVE holidays. Holidays give me something to look forward to, something to plan around, decorate for and celebrate. In my opinion, life needs to have as many celebrations as possible. When I found these heart push pop containers on Amazon, I knew I needed to buy them. The idea to cut cake into them, came quickly after. I am excited for you to try them, they are *almost* too adorable to eat.

How do you get the cake inside?

This is much easier than you might even think. When you get the containers they come with the bottom pushed all the way up to the top. Kind of like a push pop thats already been eaten. I just bake my cake in a cookie sheet so that it is thin and then I pressed the push pop onto the cake. The cake slides into the container and then you can fill it up layer by layer.

How do I get frosting inside?

Again, its pretty simple, I used a piping bag without a tip, I just snipped of the tip of the bag and used as is.

What cake recipe should I use?

You can use any recipe you’d like! Like I mentioned before, you want to pour the batter into a cookie sheet so that it bakes a sheet cake that is thinner to cut. If you bake the cake in a regular cake pan, it will be much to thick and fill most of the push pop.

For cakes, you could use your favorite recipe or even a cake box. For these pops I used my Chocolate Cake and Vanilla Cake recipes.

How do you store them?

You can store these at room temperature for 3 days or in the fridge for up to 1 week. What is so nice about these is, they are already in their own airtight containers. Perfect for storing! I personally like cake at room temperature, the flavor is better, so if you store them in the fridge, I would let them sit on the counter for an hour before enjoying.

Do I need to tape the lids on?

Nope! The lids snap on tight. I did add cute washi tape to the tops of each cake push pop to make them a bit more festive.

Tips for Getting the Cake Out of the Pan

The last thing you want is the freshly baked cake to be stuck in the cookie sheet. To make sure the cake comes out clean with the push pop I recommend using non stick spray and lining the pan with parchment paper before pouring the cake batter inside.
