Here is why I created this St. Patricks Free Printable. If you are like me, you love holidays and you enjoy any excuse to celebrate a little. It is what keeps life fun. But St. Patricks day can be a bit tricky, and I have tried the leprechaun traps, the scavenger hunts and the hidden rainbow treats with chocolate gold coins. All are great, but I just wasn’t satisfied. So I came up with this cute card saying, “I’m lucky to know you,” and with that was born a way to show my close family & friends a little appreciation with this silly green holiday.
Why do we celebrate St. Patricks Day?
I always knew the holiday was religious of sorts, with Saint right in the title, but I didn’t really know why the holiday was celebrated. It was surprising to find that in 1631 the church in Ireland started celebrating Feast Day in honor of St. Patrick who had died in the 5th century. I don’t know about you, but I have never really had a feast on St. Patricks day. Well, besides the festive Corned Beef and Cabbage I like to slow cook. You have to try this amazing recipe from Oh, Sweet Basil.
Who was St. Patrick?
St. Patrick was a missionary who later become bishop in Ireland and was responsible for bringing Christianity to some parts of Ireland. He sounds like he was a great guy, hence the Sainthood and the entire Feast Day holiday declared in his honor.
What could I put with this free printable?
Oh, if the card isn’t enough for you, whip up a delicious and festive homemade treat to go along with it! I have just the thing.
These treats are just as delicious as they are cute! Ringing in the holiday with a sweet treat and a kind note. There is no better way in my opinion.
