What do you need for no-bake mummies, ghosts, and spiders?
Pretzel Rods
The crunchy base for the mummies that’s easy to dip and fun to decorate.
Oreo Cookies
Perfect for spider bodies, with a soft middle for inserting pretzel stick legs.
Strawberries
Sweet and juicy ghosts that look spooky with a bit of white and milk chocolate.
White Chocolate and Milk Chocolate Chips
Essential for coating and decorating; creamy white chocolate makes the perfect mummy wrap.
Candy Eyes
These give each treat character, turning simple snacks into mummy cookies, spiders, and ghostly strawberries.

How do you make no-bake mummies, ghosts and spider treats?
Mummies
- Melt the white chocolate. In a microwave-safe bowl, add the white chocolate—heat in 30-second increments, stirring thoroughly between each round until smooth. You can also use a double broiler for a gentler melt.
- Dip the pretzels. Dip each pretzel rod into the melted chocolate, shaking off excess. Place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet to set.
- Add mummy wrapping. Once the first layer is dry, drizzle white chocolate in thin lines across the pretzel rods to create the look of mummy wrapping. Place candy eyeballs in pairs to complete the look. Let them set fully before serving.
Spiders
- Prepare the pretzel legs. Break each small pretzel stick in half. Insert 4 pretzel halves into each side of an Oreo to create spider legs.
- Melt the milk chocolate. In a safe glass bowl, melt the milk chocolate using 30-second intervals. Stir between each round until fully melted.
- Add eyes and assemble. Dot a bit of melted chocolate on the Oreo top and add candy eyes to finish the spider’s face. Allow the chocolate to set so the eyes stay in place. These spider cookies are ready to serve once set.
Ghosts
- Prepare the strawberries. Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. Make sure they’re completely dry, or the chocolate won’t stick.
- Dip in white chocolate. Melt the white chocolate as before. Dip each strawberry in the melted chocolate, shaking off any excess.
- Create faces. Once the chocolate sets, melt the milk chocolate. Use a toothpick or a piping bag to create spooky faces with two eye dots and one larger dot for a mouth. Allow the chocolate to fully set on the ghosts before serving.
Tips and Tricks
- Chill time: Allow each treat to cool for 5-10 minutes before adding additional details. This helps the chocolate layers set so they don’t run together.
- Use of candy eyes. Different-sized googly eyes can create unique expressions for your mummies, spiders and ghosts.
- Perfect drizzling. If you don’t have a piping bag, use a Ziploc bag with a small hole cut in one corner to drizzle chocolate evenly.

Storage Tips
Room Temperature: Store these cute treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Keep away from warm areas to prevent the chocolate from melting.
Refrigeration: These treats can also be refrigerated for longer freshness, up to one week.
Freezing: Avoid freezing, as it may cause the chocolate to crack once thawed.
Make-Ahead Advice
Make these sweet treats up to two days in advance. Keep them in a cool, dry place or the refrigerator. Avoid assembling too early, as pretzel sticks can lose their crunchiness over time.
Serving Suggestions
For the best presentation, add candy pumpkins, gummy worms, and other Halloween candies around the serving plate for a festive look.
